With a long history, the Lemon Tree Inn offers a classic California experience. Located on the site of the state’s very first motel operation, the inn showcases Santa Barbara in fantastic fashion.
The current hotel was originally built in 1960 and, while it has been updated several times since then, the 96-room inn still pays homage to its roots in the 60s. However, the rooms still offer plenty of modern amenities, including air conditioning, LDC televisions with over 60 channels, and high-speed wireless Internet service. As upgrades to the standard rooms, the Lemon Tree Inn also features deluxe and poolside rooms, as well as suites with private patios for enjoying the sunshine.

Pros (+) The room was a decent size. The pool was nice.
Cons (-) The bed linens were old. The bed was old and as a result, not very firm. The cleaning carts make a ton of noise/rumbling when moving around so we were awaken at 7am by the sounds of carts and people scrambling above. The facilities are run down - the restroom door was rotted at the bottom, the toilet was small and squeelee on flush. Based on my experience, the hotel is 2 star not 3.
Pros (+) You walk out of your room to a lush landscape, just a few steps away you can sit outside & enjoy great food & cocktails. I was only staying one night to catch an early flight- we didn’t have to leave the property!
Cons (-) Bathroom is really outdated, especially toilets. Peeling paint in bathroom, low light.
Pros (+) The inner courtyard area with all the palm trees made a very nice view out the balcony window. Bed was firm and comfortable.

Pros (+) The room was very nice, lush green patio setting was a major plus. The only downside is the location if you don't have a car. It's not really walking distance to anything central. Otherwise, great value for the money.

Cons (-) Inn and facility is old. Room does not have refrigerator. Beds are very old; I sunk into the mattress as I lay down. I probably wouldn't recommend this inn if you're looking for a comfortable place during a getaway weekend.
Pros (+) Loved that our room had a patio that gave instant access to a beautiful pool in a beautiful setting. Very easy check in. We did not have an opportunity to use on site restaurant, but the menu looked very appealing and it had many people seated for dining. Especially for the value we would stay here again.
Cons (-) The rooms, and particularly the bathroom and shower is very dated and needs update.
Pros (+) This was a very decent last second find for a weary solo traveler. Safe, quiet (midweek), and a convenient location.
